Trauma Informed Care training for caregivers

When children are born and raised in an environment of poverty, ethnic conflicts, war, neglect and many other difficulties they encounter trauma. Trauma has the potential to derail the healthy holistic development of a child. If no intervention happens, the negative impact of trauma experienced as a child is carried into adulthood. That is why those working with the highly vulnerable part of the community (especially children and adolescents) need to be trauma informed to change the catastrophic trajectory of a child who has experienced trauma. This training is designed to equip social workers, caregivers and parents of children who have had an experience of trauma with a competency in understanding stories, building helping relationships for effective communication, and knowing how to effectively work towards the possible positive outcome while keeping oneself safe from secondary-traumatic stress. This training is a standardized training adopted from LAMb international with their permission.
The CDTRC desires to provide this training to many organizations working with orphaned and vulnerable children in Ethiopia. Though we've done many such trainings in different parts of the country thus far, we are constrained by the shortage of budget to take these training to many organizations as desired. Right now we are prepared to take the training to Hawassa to train 30 social workers. We need the funding to carryout this training.
