This project is about the so called Independent orphans. With regard to Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC), there are generally three categories of children; children below 13 years old, children between the age of 13 to 18 and children above 18 years old. The common practice in almost all orphanages is the OVC will leave the center at the age of 18 and start independent life and we commonly call them Independent OVC (IOVC).
As an organization that has been serving orphans for the last 12 years, we were able to see the various challenges that IOVC are passing through. Especially the challenges associated with their being new to the new life style and outside environment is something that we realized as a critical issue that requires due attention and actions. As we observed, most of them enter into dangerous situation that is exposing them to various problems such as substance abuse, unnecessary pregnancy, abortion, prostitution, criminal acts, etc. Thus, we realized that before the children reach 18 and leave the centers, they should be well aware of various critical issues that have the potential of influencing their life.

This specific project is about providing three full day training on self-leadership for 200 teenagers.

The objective of the training is to equip 200 independent children with self leadership training that will help them lead their own life in a healthy manner and protect themselves from various relationship and engagements that may endanger their life.
